The Old Anchorage, Lochranza, Isle of Arran

Accommodation

The Old Anchorage has been tastefully modernized and extended over the last 150 years, in keeping with the the old anchorage guests' entranceoriginal design. The low oak beamed ceilings and the original inglenook fireplace, now a feature of the lounge, give the cottage character and charm.

The two upstairs bedrooms feature sloping beamed ceilings and dormer windows, giving spectacular views across the loch. The gentle sounds of the sea create an ageless feeling that ensures a restful night. One room has two single beds; the other has a double and a single bed. Both bedrooms can accommodate a cot if required. There is a walk-in wardrobe on the landing between the two bedrooms.

On the ground floor, the lounge, one of the original two rooms in the house, is large yet cosy, retaining many of the traditional features, with windows to both the front and back of the cottage. A small library of books, board games and newly installed satellite television provide entertainment for all tastes.

The dining kitchen, overlooking the garden, the castle and the sea beyond, and is fully equipped with access to the back garden. The bathroom has both a bath and shower.

Outside the kitchen door there is a barbecue facility, clothes drying area and ample car parking space. The grassy lawns, shrubbery and woodland are an ideal play area for children.
